LEBEN MIT DER KAMERA
Seit meinem 17. Lebensjahr stehe ich hinter der Kamera. Meine ersten Jahre verbrachte ich in der Analogfotografie mit einer bereits damals betagten 35mm Fujica ST605, an der ich die fotografischen Grundlagen von Grund auf lernte. Den späteren Wechsel zur Digitalfotografie erlebte ich sehr bewusst: neue technische Möglichkeiten, ein veränderter Bildentwicklungsprozess, digitale Postproduktion, schnellere Lernkurven und ein grundlegend anderes Verhältnis zur Menge der entstehenden Bilder prägten mein fotografisches Selbstverständnis nachhaltig.
Meine Begeisterungsfähigkeit für außergewöhnliche Wege und Herausforderungen in der Fotografie, gerade in Zeiten massiver und allgegenwärtiger Bildüberflutung, hat mich schließlich 2016 zur Infrarot-Fotografie gebracht. Und sie ist zu einer meiner Leidenschaften geworden: Das ganz neue Sehen der Welt, der intensive Fokus auf Form und Struktur sowie die veränderte Herangehensweise an ein Bild, von der Aufnahme über die Entwicklung bis zur Farbnachbereitung, machen die Infrarot-Fotografie für mich unvergleichbar und einzigartig.
Gerade heute, wo der KI-generierte Bilder immer selbstverständlicher werden, bleibt sie etwas Besonderes: Denn nicht nur das Ergebnis ist entscheidend. Sondern es ist vor allem auch das bewusste Sehen vorab, die persönliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Umgebung als zentraler Teil des künstlerischen Prozesses.
TÄTIGKEITSBEREICHE
Gewerblich fotografiere ich vorwiegend Hochzeitsreportagen, begeistere mich jenseits von Kundenaufträgen aber auch für die Landschafts- und Naturfotografie.
2017 brachte ich unter dem Titel “Places of Beauty” meinen ersten Landschaftskalender mit gemischten Motiven aus der Nähe und Ferne heraus. Die thematisch ähnlich gelagerte Ausgabe 2018 mit Abbildungen aus der Region Oberrhein trug den Titel “Von der Schönheit der Welt”.
“Unwirkliche Ansichten” war mein erster Kalender mit Infrarot-Fotografien: Orte meiner Heimatstadt Karlsruhe im verborgenen Farbspektrum. Eine zweite Auflage habe ich einige Jahre später mit Motiven aus Karlsruhe und dem näheren Umland erstellt.

I’ve been into photography since I was 17. I spent my early years working with analog photography, using a then-aging 35mm Fujica ST605, which taught me the fundamentals of photography from scratch. The transition to digital photography was a very conscious experience: new technical possibilities, a changed image development process, digital post-production, faster learning curves, and a fundamentally different relationship to the number of images produced profoundly shaped my understanding of photography.
My enthusiasm for unconventional approaches and challenges in photography, especially in times of massive and ubiquitous image overload, ultimately led me to infrared photography in 2016 – and it has become one of my passions. The completely new way of seeing the world, the intense focus on form and structure, and the altered approach to an image, from shooting to development to color correction, make infrared photography incomparable and unique for me.
Especially in a time when AI-generated images are becoming increasingly commonplace, it remains something special: because not only the result is crucial, but above all, it’s conscious seeing, experience, and personal engagement with the real world as a central part of the artistic process.
AREAS OF ACTIVITY
Commercially, I mainly photograph wedding reports, but apart from customer orders I am also enthusiastic about landscape and nature photography.
In 2017 I published my first (non-infrared) landscape calendar with mixed motifs from near and far under the title “Places of Beauty”. The thematically similar 2018 edition with illustrations from the Upper Rhine region was entitled “Von der Schönheit der Welt” (“Beauty of the World”).
“Unwirkliche Ansichten” (“Unreal Views”) was my first calendar with infrared photographs showing selected locations in my hometown of Karlsruhe in the hidden color spectrum.
